Crisis and Safety Resources

Crisis Plan

A crisis plan is an action plan that may be needed for times when a student may be at risk of harm to self or others. At times when a student may be in crisis mode, their safety and the safety of those around them is paramount.

act 1084

ACT 1084 was adopted from the 2014 - Advisory Guidelines developed by an ADE committee and applies to all school-aged students. The law addresses the issue of the use of physical restraint with students; however, it is more centered on the use of positive behavior supports. It outlines what school districts shall do in accordance with this law.

Behavioral Threat Assessment

The Arkansas Center for School Safety (the Center) has been awarded a Bureau of Justice Assistance grant to assist Arkansas school districts, both public and private, to develop effective behavioral threat assessment teams and processes. Threat assessment is a critical component of preventing school shootings and other targeted violence on campus.

crisis prevention

Crisis prevention or crisis management is strategic intervention for a student who may not be responding from a social, emotional, or behavioral perspective.

Each district is responsible for providing personnel with the training, tools, and support needed to ensure the safety of all students and school staff. While the Arkansas Behavior Support Specialists do not endorse a specific crisis prevention system, below is a list of common systems used in the state.
